Holy Cross Hospital Joint Meeting June 8, 2013

An Essential Tremor (ET) Support Group Meeting, hosted by all three of the ET support groups in the Washington/Baltimore area, will discuss and use a new high-tech device that reduces shaking caused by hand tremors. The meeting will be free and held at Holy Cross Hospital’s first floor auditorium from 10am until 1pm. Kathleen Welker, head of Tremor Action Network, will speak about a state-of-the-art mechanical spoon that reduces shaking by over 70%, and functions smoothly as the tremor becomes more pronounced. You will be able to use the spoon at the meeting. Holy Cross Hospital is located at 1500 Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring. Seating is limited to 75. Please call 703-543-8131 to RSVP. An Open Letter from HopeNET’s Executive Director

One of HopeNET’s objectives is to increase awareness of Essential Tremor (ET). There is a tremendous need to increase awareness of ET, because even though it is the most common form of tremor, few people know what it is. Many people confuse Essential Tremor with Parkinson’s Disease, which almost everyone has heard of. Without greater awareness, Essential Tremor will not get the needed money for research that will lead to better treatments and ultimately a cure. It is a daunting task to increase awareness of a condition that so few know exists. Our strategy is to focus our efforts, targeting specific groups rather than attempting to reach out more broadly.  more...
